MUFE HD Foundation Review

As promised.....I thought I'd start of the foundation reviews by talking about my most favourite.  Now if you haven't heard of it I'd be very surprised by that declaration, Make Up For Ever (or MUFE for short) HD foundation is quite a celebrity in the foundation world.

The bottle

I first bought mine in the Sephora they have at the Cite of Europe, France in 2010. I knew I wanted to buy it as I'd heard so many positive remarks about it - especially that it is rather good if you have oily skin.  I am the perfect candidate for that as I have oily combination skin which just has a tendency to get oily towards the end of the day in the T-zone area.

At around €32.00 (which is the same in £'s to as the Euro and the Pound are basically the same) it is not on the cheap side by far.  To me it is more in the category of high end department store than the high street. MUFE have a wide range of shades which is excellent. Whatever colour you want MUFE are more than likely going to have it. I currently use the shade #115 (about a MAC NW15 for reference) this shade for me is simply amazing. It matches my skin as though it was my skin colour in a foundation pot. I just love it and it is exactly as a foundation should be....your skin colour but better!

The foundation comes with a pump which is included in the price unlike some other brands. As for the packaging itself, it's simple. Black and clear plastic, it doesn't look high end but I think it looks sleek.

I recorded a video which is on my YouTube channel.  Basically shows me applying the foundation and what it looks like on my skin.  It also shows the consistency of the liquid on the back of my hand.  So if you want to have a peek here it is.

I'm going to review the Bobbi Brown perhaps as that is my number two.  Have you tried MUFE HD what are your thoughts???

Tag: Seven Deadly Beauty Sins

I do love a good tag video or blog post tag and quite a lot lately I have seen people do these posts.  I saw Bright Town Girl post and she inspired me to give it a go...so here I am! :-)
Greed

What is your most inexpensive beauty product? What is your most expensive?

It is difficult to choose something which is cheap as i use a lot of high end (MAC, Estee Lauder, Bobbi Brown...) you cannot help what you love.  But my most inexpensive would probably be my mascara.  I love love love the Maybelline One By One...makes me lashes look a.m.a.z.i.n.g!  My most expensive would be my foundation.  The Make Up For Ever, Bobbi Brown or Estee Lauder gives me lovely skin but they do have chucky price tags....

Wrath

What beauty products do you have a love/hate relationship with? What has been hardest to find?

I have a love hate for cleansing products and my skin can be quite sensitive and I can break out with eczema and spots easily.  It can be difficult to get the right combination of products.  The hardest to find Liz Earle you have to go (well for me) to  John Lewis or online.  As I don’t have a John Lewis near me and it can be annoying...i wish Boots stocked Liz Earle L

Glutton

What are your most delicious beauty products?

Probably my Lush items or my Macadamia oil/Aussie conditioners.  But I love sweet things like perfumes and lipglosses ...they are very delicious indeed.

Sloth
What beauty product do you neglect due to laziness?

I’m terrible when it comes to moisturising my face in the evening and morning.  I mean I use a primer most days but in the evening I do become lazy.  I get as far as removing my makeup then sleep becomes the main priority.

Pride

What beauty product gives you more confidence?

It is probably a combination of things.  Having clean hair  so a good shampoo and conditioner is a must.  A good foundation that takes away your imperfections, a lip colour, a splash of perfume to make you smell lovely.  I don’t think I could choose one thing.  I’m far too picky....

Lust

What attributes do you find most attractive in the opposite sex?

Personality is something i look at and how they treat people.  Small things can be very beautiful...the way they hold the door open for you, covering you in blanket if you fall asleep on the sofa, catching them staring at you.  Personality wise they have to make me laugh, be honest, caring, down to earth.  I hate stuck up men, bullies and men who are arrogant....ewwww hate it.
Envy

What item would you most like to receive as a gift?

I have been lusting for a Mulberry handbag and a matching purse.  To receive them would be amazing and a lovely gesture.  The hubby keeps saying he may surprise me one day.....exciting!!!!

So that’s the tag.  Hope you enjoyed.  If you fancy responding and doing your own tag then please feel free.  I’d love to take a look.

Hope you're having a good one!!!

All about nails + NPOTW

When I'm food shopping I always, regardless if I actually need anything from that aisle end up browsing down the beauty aisle. My local Tesco stock a good range of beauty products as it's a Tesco Extra store. I just so happen to have a nose down there on my last food shopping trip and came a cross a nail polish range which I hadn't heard of before called All About Nails. All the polishes on the self cost 99p. Bargain!!! There was an array of colours from your dark blacks, blues and purples to your nude colours and even your 80's disco neon colours.

I picked up only two shades as for the other shades I felt like I already owned something similar. Would you be interested in seeing my collection? Let me know :-) Any-ho this are the two I got I will do a NPOTW post of Heather soon.  But for now I show you Bronze....

Nice....Yes I think so too!!!

Mums the word!

So If you didn't know Mothers Day (in the UK anyways) is in March 18th.  It's one of the days of the year where you can show your Mum/Step Mum some extra loving.  We should be loving them everyday regardless I say!!!!!

On Friday on my half day from work, I wandered in Lush at Convent Garden and was sucked into all things Lush!  I spent a small fortune.  But also bought my Mum some Mothers Day goodies so it's all good.

I won't lie I actually bought the tin I'm about to show you for myself, not realising it is in fact part of the Mothering Sunday gifts Lush have on offer. Oops!  Honestly though I am going to share some of the items with my wonderful Mummy anyway!

So this is what the tin looks like.....

I was in love when I saw the funky pattern and it's red .... always an eye catcher.  I am going to use it as the storage box for all my Lush goodies.  So what's inside you wonder?  Lets open it up!

Tad-daaaa

So I'm going to ramble about each one and say a few lines so you know what the items are.  I've the numbered the picture for you to make it a little easier for you.

1... Tulip Re-UseableBubble Bar
A cute Tulip on a stick which you swirl in your bath to make a lovely bubble bath.  In Lush the sales assistant said you can get approximately 6 uses out of this.  The plus side it smell amazing...florally Bergamot and Cocoa with Vanilla.  This is £4.95 individually and is right here on the Lush site.

2... You've Been Mangoed
A personally favourite of mine and one of the main reasons I was drawn to purchasing the tin to begin with.  I love the Mango Bath Melt as it makes my skin so soft and silky.  With its essential oils and citrus aromas this is a must have for me every time.  This is £2.95 individually and is right here on the Lush site.

3... Think Pink Bath Bomb
How cute is this???? I'm a sucker for all cute things and even more so as it's pink! Pink Heart Confetti is left in the bottom of the bath which is so lovey dovey.  This is £2.45 individually and is right here on the Lush site.

4... Butterball Bath Bomb
This may be little but this shouldn't be taken lightly.  Small, musky and full of Ylang Ylang oils and smelling of yummy vanilla and cocoa this leaves your skin so soft and silky.  This is £2.40 individually and is right here on the Lush site.

5... Amandopondo Bubble Bar
This looks so pretty you don't want to break into pieces for the bath.  With the delicate rose sitting proud on top and full of even more rose scented loveliness this is a definite buy if you love all things rosy.  This is £2.65 individually and is right here on the Lush site.

6... Pop In The Bath Bubble Bar
With its cheery child like flower that reminds me of a cookie or a cupcake decorated by a small child.  This definitely has the fun and cute side covered.  Full of begamont, orange flower and mandarin this may look child like but it packs all the punches.  This is £2.90 individually and is right here on the Lush site.

7... Madame Butterfly Re-Useable
Just as the Tulip above, swirl around and around in the tub and this wand releases it's yummy flavours of  rose, lemon and geranium into the water.  This smells so good you all most don't want to use it.  This is £4.95 individually and is right here on the Lush site.

All the items in the tin I have checked with Lush and all are suitable for Vegans.  Go Lush!  In the tin Lush actually say this is a cake tin which your mummy dearest can put her baked cakes in.  So now a cake tin and 7 ....yes 7 items for the amazing price of £28.95.  If you add up the items individually it certainly is a bargain to be had.  So if you like the look of this hot foot it to Lush before they sell out!!!!

I have recorded a Lush haul for my YouTube channel which will be up this week, so stay tuned!!!

What's your favourites from Lush??

Well it's better late than never.....it's Jan favs!

As the title of this post says 'it's better late than never'. I'm always a little late with my monthly favourites, but this month I think I have an appropriate excuse for the lateness since I was out of the country. Feels like I never went now. Sighhhhhh!!!

So here is the video for my favourites.

Was wondering if you'd prefer me to do a blog post also. So there would be a video and a post. Let me know your thoughts.

Also I filmed a out fit of the day and a another Chicago haul whilst I was out there. Would you guys want to see that?

How I cover my under eye circles....

Hi everyone,  hope your weekend is going well so far.  So here's a post on how I do my under eye circle makeup.  I've been using these products and the steps for a few years now and it works wonders for me.  I think I'll be using these products until the day I die!!!

The products I use are...

  • Bobbi Brown's Corrector in the shade Bisque which you can purchase here.  This is the one and only corrector I will ever use.  I think this is my holy grail must have product.  I don't know how I covered my circles before I discovered this product.
  • Then I use the concealer by MAC and it's the Select Coverup in the shade NW20 which you can pickup here.
  • Then to finish I use the Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder shade 1 which you can buy right here.
The brushes I use a Sigma concealer brush and a MAC 217 brush.

So hope you enjoy the video...let me know your thoughts...

Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoyed the video.

Revlon Colourbust Lipbutter in Lollipop

One of my many Chicago purchases was one of the much hyped Revlon Lipbutters.  I picked up the colour Lollipop as it's slightly different from the norm for me.  I usually pick colours which are more natural looking or soft pinks.  This however has much more pop!!!

I admit that every Walgreens and CVS I came across I popped into to see if they had any of these.  Then I found some...yay!

The packaging

The packaging is simple which I like.  I adore the zig-zag quilted design and that you can see into the packaging.  The lid which I haven't pictured is clear so you can see inside.  I also like that the packaging is coloured like the product.

What it looks like in the tube

The thing about US drug stores they do not have testers (well none I saw anywhere).  So you are literally going by what it looks like in the packaging or basically blind if you can't see it.  I was lucky that I seen a number of blog posts and YouTube videos from lots of people showing their lipbutters.  Especially Fleur De Force's blog post here.

On the lips...

I love the consistency of the lipbutter, it is like a well pigmented lip balm.  It is well moisturising.  With Lollipop you can make it as light or dark as you like.  I do like to blot this on a tissue as it soooo pigmented. I think this colour is very good that you could use it in the day time and night.  Blot it for the day time and layer it up for the evening.  And all for $7.00!! Bargain!!

Final thoughts about this product is that I can't wait for these to be released in the UK.  They'll probably be a similar price at about £6.50and I can't wait to swatch all the colours....there's about 20 colours!!

If Essie and OPI had a baby + NPOTW

Strange title for a blog post but my my if Essie's Turquoise & Caicos and Sephora by OPI's Top Coat in Spark-tacular!  had a baby it would be BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! See!!!!!

Not the best picture, but still........ full of gorgeousness don't you think?!?!?!

I popped to Sephora and saw the Top Coat in Spark-tacular! on the stand....and like a Magpie I was instantly drawn to it.  I swatched it on my thumb nail over the top of my Turquoise & Caico polish and then it happened......  I fell in love.

Isn't it just the most beautiful thing have ever seen?

I mean look at it ....perfection! The perfect marriage between a funky Tiffany Blue and a kaleidoscope of  rainbow colours of fine and chunky glitter.

One coat gives amazing pay off but two gives it even greater affect.

What do you think of this? Are you in love just like me????

NPOTW Essie ~ Turquoise & Caicos

One of my first purchases in Chicago (you can see the video haul here) was the Essie polish Turquoise & Caicos.  This eye catching polish is beautiful.  The best way to describe this is a Tiffany Box Blue/Turquoise colour.

I wore this yesterday and I had a few compliments.  The lady in Ulta was like'wow that's amazing, what is that....?'.  I told her and she was like I'm going to have to get myself one of those.  That made me laugh :-)  Have to say I'm loving American and I don't want to leave on Sunday :**-(

Any how back to the polish.....the polish itself is very opaque so you need a few coats.  The above picture is two coats but three is definitely better.  If you can get your hands on this it is worth a look for sure.

Have you ever tried this polish or any other of their polishes?

2011 favourites video...where are you?

So I have filmed and edited my 2011 favourites and I tried to upload to the lovely YouTube the morning of my flight. But unfortunately I didn't notice my video was 15 minutes and 49 seconds long. At the time my channel only allowed videos up to 15 minutes only. So YouTube rejected my video. Sob sob! I have updated my account now so I can show longer videos. It will be uploaded on my return to the lovely UK. Sorry for the delay Angela Xox

What's in my travel makeup bag...?

So today is flying to Chicago day, and as i write this I'm currently at 38,000 feet in the air over northern Canada. I  I feel like I've been wide a wake for hours. I didn't go to sleep until 12:30am and I woke up before my alarm (agh!) at a very early 5:45am.  I did want before I left for Chicago, to film a what I packed in my travel makeup bag. Unfortunately I thought packing my suitcase was slightly more important as i was so busy all day and didn't get a chance, sorry :-( So I'm going to take advantage of the hotels Wifi and film a video on my trusty camera and show the bits and bobs I am carting to the US.

My travel makeup is quite basic, I have barely bought anything with me. Just essentials.  I'll be walking around most of the time sight seeing or shopping (naughty chuckle to myself) so I'm not too fused about a full face of makeup.  I can feel quite at home just wearing mascara, foundation, a cream shadow and a bit blush....or even nothing sometimes.  No ones going to see my dark under eye circles whilst I'm out and about.  So here's what's in my makeup bag....

Hope you like the video, sorry the video isn't amazing.  It was filmed on my camera and I was doing it one handed whilst trying to show the items.  I'm not a PRO! Lol :-)

 Some random info;

  •  I flew with BA from T5 in London town flight time is 8hrs40mins
  • I bought no duty free with the exception of a iPad cover and a new pair of earphones, I bought no, yes NO beauty items....shocking!
  • My seat number is 29b but I'm in the c seat as the guy next to me got upgraded so I got to spread out :-)
  • I'm listening to Feist the album Metals courtesy  of the BA audio system :)
 Angela x

p.s....I wrote most of the blog whilst on the plane to kill time obviously video was filmed when I got to the hotel :-D
