I never thought I'd be buying a pair of shoes which resembled slippers. When slipper style shoes became the 'in' thing I turned my nose and thought no way... I'll look my granny forgetting to change my shoes!
Well after a quick dash into one of my second homes, I saw these babies on half price sale. Rainbow sparkles and the fact they were comforty sold it to me.
Marked down from £12 to £6 in Primark, I was initially drawn to the sparkle. Then I saw the price and thought even if they lasted 5 minutes it was worth it. Besides I'm trying to be more fashionable and adventurous! Watch this space.

When Essie met Nails Inc
If Nails Inc 3D glitter polish Marylebone* got together and had a nail polish baby with Essie's Pop Art Pink, I think their bubba would look something like this...
Perfection isn't she?!?
Three coats of Pop Art Pink (which I think they have renamed Poppy Art Pink for reasons unknown) then a wash of pink 3D glitter from Nails Inc complete the look. It seems a while since I went all sparkly and I thought Marylebone worked perfectly with the Essie shade.
These are all the goodies I used to complete the look. I started with a coat of Save The Nail which is an excellent base coat/treatment for nails which need TLC. Then three coats of Pop Art Pink which is a soft baby pink. One sparkly coat of Marylebone then to finish I used Nails Inc Caviar Top Coat.
Ta-Dah! A girl look for a girly girl!
What polishes do you like to mix together?

Denim, Knits and Bling
Denim shirt £19.99 ~ H & M
Necklace £9.99 ~ H & M
Knitted Jumper £19.99 ~ H & M
I have always dreamed of buying myself a denim shirt and I have had my eye open for the perfect one. Step forward H & M's offering. This for a high street purchase is a high quality feel, it's not a cheap cheerful denim... it's thick and feels high quality. I love the lazy press stud buttons also... a perfect throw on outfit.
As for the jumper, this was tossed on the side somewhere on its own and I felt sorry for it. I do like a big cuddly jumper. This also went perfect with my denim shirt! I'd actually seen Fleur (De Force) wear a denim jumper combo in one of her recent video's. She looked hot so I thought I might to look hot too. Plus navy is my favourite colour these days.
Now the necklace... this is bold and gives great detailing to the collar of this outfit which I love. I thought this was a must have. Something like this in Topshop would cost tonnes more but H&M have it at a not to be ignored price. Bargain!
So anything take your fancy?

Nail Inc | Upcoming Collections
If
you are a fan of Nails Inc then ladies in the next coming months you are in
for a treat. The lovely people of Nails Inc (and trust me... they are
lovely) invited me and some other beauty bloggers to check out their forthcoming collections. My gosh, there is some treats in store for us
nail polish addicts.
The Trends collection is made up of four limited edition shades which Nails Inc believe are the most trendy shades on the catwalk this spring/summer. Beautiful glossy pastel shades which are a must have. Launching in March these retail for £11 each.
They are also releasing a Trend Collection which has six mini polishes in a cute display box. So if you're a fan of minis or need to pick up a cute present for someone this could be what you are looking for. The retails for £22 and is available in March.
I did a post and mentioned the Concrete collection back in December when they were launched. The collection consists of three bright fun shades with one neutral. The textured nail look is certainly very in at the moment. These retail for £12 each and if you want to see my swatches you can click here.
Texture is big this season and Nails Inc have launched the Leather Effect line called Leather and Skulls. Your choice of three different leather effect polishes (black, mulled wine and tan) with skull embellishments which you can add. The sets cost £19 and will be a total hit. Some set are available online now here.
You can also in March buy the polishes on their own for £12. These are limited so snap them up while you can. If you want to see a swatch of Shoreditch Mews, click here.
If you're just too lazy or in a rush to get ready for a night out with the girls, the Crystaltastic Nails will be right up your street. The collection of four very different Swarovski crystal embellished nails designs, will make any ones nails look a million dollars. The sets vary in price so there is definitely something for everybody. They are also reusable which is excellent and each set has 24 nails in varying sizes!
These are launched in March.
So that's what we're getting ladies... are you excited? Is there anything that takes your fancy? Have written your shopping list!?

Maybelline ~ The Rocket
Maybelline have done it again and blessed us beauty lovers with a new mascara. I picked this up on New Years Eve as I took a detour home from work. The ban, hasn't be broken - honest.
Maybelline's new mascara release The Rocket is part of the Volum' Express line. I love the original Volum' Express and I was keen to try this out when I heard about it.
I think this is Maybellines best mascara packaging yet. I love the purple/blue tube and the neon pink writing. I don't think you could ever lose this in your makeup bag. As for the name, I'm not too sure... The Rocket? Catchy but I'm not sure if any mascara can give you rocket volume like Maybelline claim this can. Let's wait and see the results.
The wand I think looks similar to Max Factor False Lash Effect/Covergirl Lash Blast. It is also quite similar to the One by One as it has a plastic wand. The difference between The Rocket and the One by One can be seen below in the comparison shot. The Rocket wand itself has barely noticeable bristles, which are very short and look a little on the thin side. I actually prefer the look of the One by One wand.
Maybelline say that this is a clump free mascara which is a bold claim. I'm not sure there is a mascara out there which doesn't clump even a little bit. A word of warning for you potential Rocket users... at the tip of wand you get that annoying blob of excess mascara. I recommend removing this before application or there might be a mess.
So lets get onto what it looks like on the lashes. One coat looks like...
After the initial first coat, I'm quite impressed. The separation is good and the lashes look naturally volumised. Not massively like Maybelline say they will be but still good. I would be happy at leaving it with just the one application.
The second coat looks like...
Now for the second coat. Maybelline claim this is a clump free mascara. After the second application I personally think this clumped slightly, not too much however. I had to work it a lot with the wand to get the right look. I left the look as it was and didn't apply a third coat as i think that may of been clump overload. I also applied one coat to my bottom lashes which to be honest look a little clumped together.
So for my thoughts...
I quite like this mascara but there are some down points. Firstly the blob at the end of the wand which I addressed above. Then the wand and its pointy stumpy bristles. Because they are so short and pointy I feel like I stab my lids. It can be a little uncomfortable and off putting. This is my only real negative... so far.
Yes there is an odd clumping here and there but you just have to work at it with the wand. The formulation is quite wet, so I think that this may be better once it has aged slightly. Sometimes I think drier mascara can perform better.
As for volume, I don't think you get lots which is disappointing. I wouldn't see myself buying this again when I have the option to buy the One by One which I think is better. If the wand didn't jab me in the lids I think I'd like this more.
Have you seen this yet? Will you be giving it a try?

If I had to admit to a girl crush Ms Cole would probably be my answer. I think she's a stunner and better yet she is one of ours!
At Christmas she graced the cover of Grazia magazine and I thought her makeup was superb. I've tried to recreate it for you with this tutorial. I'll admit the colour isn't spot on... but I did the best with what I had in my collection.

Urban Decay Haul
I have a few new toys to play with from Urban Decay. I feel it has been ages since I bought something from the brand. I think the last time I bought something was in 2010 when I bought the original Naked Palette... so a purchase is long overdue!
Firstly I finally caved in and bought myself the Naked 2 Palette. I know most people have seen this... so I won't go on and on.
I'd been debating about getting this for ages. It had been sitting in the online shopping basket for quite sometime. I just kept telling myself I didn't need it. Also the price for me was a little off putting.
So low and behold on December 31st whilst browsing on BeautyBay, I saw they had it reduced. I had some spare change in my Paypal account so I thought what the heck now is the time to treat myself to it.
I won't do swatches as lets face it there are a million google images on the web, just look here. However I have taken pictures of the shades so you can see.
I've used it a few times now and I'm still getting used to everything. I know my original Naked palette inside out, so this will take some getting used to. I'm certainly up for some tutorials!
Here's a pretty picture of the palette with some editing.... sigh at it's beauty!
I also picked up a 24/7 eyeliner in Perversion. I've heard so many good things about this liner. The staying power, the intense black of the colour you name it. This was on sale too so it was going in the basket if it liked it or not.
It may look just like any other black liner but this so soft and blend-able when you apply. You then give it a moment and ta dah - it's set like concrete. You can see in the below pictures from left to right what it looks like straight after application, then after I've blended a few minutes later. Not much movement.
I cannot wait to play with my new goodies more. Do you like Urban Decay? What are your must haves from the brand?

Bargain 'do-it-yourself' Facial
I had to share something special with you. This something is for us ladies who love the little luxuries like facials, but don't like the cost of getting them done professionally.
Behold Botanics Microdermabrasion Polish Radiant Youth!
I have had a few facials in my time. The feeling you are left with is amazing... baby soft skin which feels like silk and you just want to keep touching it (or is that just me??) Well if you love that feeling then you'll need to buy this product.
Take my word for it!
The Microdermabrasion Polish Radiant Youth by Botanics can only be described as grit in a tube. Micro grains of exfoliating pumice remove dead skin cells and transform dull skin into a radiant silky smooth complexion.
I've been using this for quite a few weeks and it has evened out my skin tone. I do feel more fresh and radiant and even younger since I have been using this. Someone even made a comment to me saying I looked glowing *happy face*
A pea sized amount is more than enough for the entire face. On a cleansed damp face apply this all over and gently in a circular motion start to buff this into the skin. When you have got every nook and cranny, give your face a good rinse and pat dry.
If you're planning a special event I'd use this the night before as it can cause slight redness, due to your skin being exfoliated off. I keep finding myself reaching for this everyday, which you can use it everyday if you wish. However I'm trying to limited myself to 3-4 times a week, I mean it is an exfoliator after all.
I'd advise you not to use if your skin is perhaps suffering from bad breakouts, severe dry skin or even eczema. The grit is so fine and it can feel like you're rubbing sand paper on your face. So that affect may not be best for sensitive skin. Other than that this certainly is a tube worth investing in.
You can currently buy this on sale in Boots for £3.99 but it is usually £7.99. Click here to be transported to the Boots website.

Marks and Spencer Jewel Limited Collection
To me winter time is the season for pulling out the plumy mulled wine shades of nail polish. Nothing quite says winter than a shade like Marks and Spencer's Jewel.
Jewel*
A warm and cosy deep metallic looking red wine hue this is certainly an 'it' shade. Two coats of this gives you the perfect coverage.
This is my first encounter of the Marks and Spencer Limited Collection line and I'm quite impressed with this little beauty. For under £4 you get a stunner. I'd be more than happy to check out the rest of the line.
Have you tried anything from Marks and Spencer beauty yet?

Rituals | Foaming Shower Gel Sensations
If you have been following me on youtube and my blog for a while, you’d know by now that I’m a fan of the Rituals Foaming Shower Gel Sensation. I’d never heard of the brand until it appeared in my Glossy Box one month. I tried it and then after that I was hooked... the rest is history.
Three cans later and I’m on to my fourth one which I just finished and featured in my empties video. I now have three more cans waiting in the wings to be showered with love.
When I say I have three cans waiting to be used I have haven't hauled any of these myself... Santa aka Mummy Jolly is to blame. She got me some for my birthday too, I'm well and truly set until next year I think.
If you’ve never heard of these let me explain a little more. The foaming shower gel does exactly what it says on the tin. Rituals have a unique goody here with these gel to foam beauties. The only thing I can compare these too when it comes to consistency is shaving foam. When you first press the nozzle, out pops a gel which quickly changes to a foam once you start to apply to wet skin.
I especially love these for leg shaving. You can use these obviously all over the body but I love them for shaving. Another thing I love is the smells, they smell beautiful and soooo yummy! Yogi Flow is my personal favourite. Ritual sell lots of variations of these but here are my three...
Sunrise ~ Sweet Orange and Cedar
Zensation ~ Organic Rice Milk and Cherry Blossom
Yogi Flow ~ Indian Rose and Sweet Almond Oil
Now for the nitty gritty - the price. You may think £7 for a 200ml can is expensive, however with this product less is more. You hardly need much at all to have an amazing shower, I can make one of these babies last four months! You only need a small amount to get a glorious foaming loveliness - which smells divine and makes you squeaky clean! I simply cannot get enough!
If you wish try your very own shower gel sensation, you can purchase these online at Rituals here.

Rimmel Kate Moss Matte Lipstick ~ 111
I've gone and done it again and splashed out on a red lipstick. Kate Moss and I are truly best buddies! I honesty cannot get enough of Rimmels's Matte Lipsticks which are part if the Kate Moss collection.
This lipstick is more of a true red compared to the 107 from the same collection, which I own and you can see here. I was so impressed by the 107 I was keen to go back and expand the collection by picking this up.
This beautiful matte London bus red, is a stop you in your tracks colour. It isn't for the fainthearted as it full on but I LOVE it. I actually wore this for Christmas day!
I like the non glossy look of the Kate Moss line. They feel natural to wear as they just feel like your own lips. They are also not drying which is good news as some matte lipsticks can be drying due to the lack of moisture.
I think Rimmel deserve a high five for this collaboration with Ms Moss. I also picked up the 110 before my spending ban took affect, so I'll be reviewing this soon. I might do a comparison post on all three shades.
This is pretty inexpensive at £5.49, so you're not sure about the red lip look I'd certainly check Rimmel out instead of spending a small fortune on a Ruby Woo by MAC. If you feel you can pull off the Kate Moss lipstick, it will be easier to pluck up the courage in trying a more expensive red.

Shine On thanks to Tara Smith!
I've never felt like I've wanted to gush so much about something, especially something so simple as a shampoo and conditioner. That's just weird huh? I mean it's just shampoo and conditioner right...?
Wrong!
Recently I was introduced to the Tara Smith brand at an event. At the event I was lucky to be given some samples of the Shine On shampoo and conditioner (Tara actually suggested this line for me). Those samples lasted 5 minutes, not only because my hair is so thick but for another reason.
The other reason is I love it... it's amazing! These babies do exactly what they say on the tin. If you want shine you won't be disappointed... honest! I'm not.
What I love about Tara's hair care range is it's entirely vegan. They are free from parabens, phthalates, sulphates, artificial colourings to name some. Plus... a big plus is there is NO animal testing AT ALL! Another bonus, all her products are made here in the UK.
The first thing you notice with these is the birds. Her packaging is to die for and it certainly is an eye catcher. Perfect for luring you in for the kill so to speak. Her entire range uses the 'bird' theme.
I've been using these a while and if you're after that squeaky clean hair then these deliver. If you're expecting soap suds galore, you sadly won't get that. Shine On is very gentle and doesn't foam hardly at all. But what you do buy is an animal friendly, non toxic, organic shampoo and conditioner.
Now for the knitty gritty, each of these 250 ml bottles cost *deep breath* £10. Not exactly cheap, but never-the-less - completely worth it. She uses the best organic ingredients. There is no expense spared in her hair line collection. You're buying a 'good' product when you buy Tara Smith. I mean she styles hair for Anna Friel, Rosario Dawson and Demi Moor to name a few.
If you're interested in investing in some vegan friendly hair care, you can purchase Tara products on the Marks and Spencer website here. Or you can purchase in selected stores like Westfield or Marble Arch. They also sell 100 ml bottles for £5 if you just fancy trying it out.

Empties and Spending Ban Update!
I've been working hard yet again to use and abuse my existing products instead of purchasing new ones. I'd like to give myself a pat on the back for this little lot. I honestly think if I banned myself for an entire year from buying beauty products, I'd still have some left to use. I could probably open a boutique with what I have lurking around my house.
I filmed a video talking about my most recent empties and I hope you enjoy. I also talk about my shopping ban update towards the bottom of this post, if you wish to skip a head.
Empty products mentioned are:
Yankee Candle Red Velvet
Schwarzkopf Got2b Guardian Angel Heat Protection Spray
Macadamia Healing Oil Spray
Vo5 Miracle Concentrate Elixir with Argan Oil
Rituals Zensation Organic Rice Milk and Cherry Blossom Foaming Shower Gel Sensation
Superdrug Deep Action Cleansing Lotion
Superdrug Deep Action Daily Exfoliating Wash
Johnson's Refreshing Facial Cleansing Wipes
Save The Nail Toughen Up Base Coat
Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Concealer
Clinique High Impact Mascara
Caudalie Beauty Elixir
Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser
Bioderma Crealine H2O Micelle Solution
Simple Kind to Eyes Eye Make-up Remover
Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base
Kiehls Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado
Bobbi Brown - Extra Eye Repair Cream
As for the shopping ban update on day number 13. I have only slipped up once so far, which I'm pretty proud of. I needed face wash for the gym and I'd left home without picking one up from my vast collection. I only spent £3 which is no biggy in my eyes. I'd rather do that than leave makeup on my face after the gym and get spots. I had my reasons, I mean who wants spots?!?
One thing I have treated myself to is the new Birchbox. I only signed up to a three month subscription just to try it out. Birchbox have just taken over Joliebox and I had actually considered signing up to them before they were purchased by Birchbox. I cannot wait to see what is in store for me! You might think this is a fail, but a three month subscription is not a year. That's a money save in itself.
I feel I've been quite strong by telling myself NO when it comes to not buying things! My tip is to avoid beauty all together. Yes I still go into Boots, but I walk straight past the aisles of makeup and get my lunch and pay. I still read blogs obviously as I love doing that, but there are constant posts relating to something new that you feel you just need but don't really need.
I try not to carry cash in my purse and use the habit of only buying things (things as in everything - not just beauty) with cash. It makes me have to think about it then go to the ATM to get cash... then I have to look at the bank balance. This makes me reconsider most things not just beauty buying.
So that's my update so far. I will update you further soon. How is your ban going if you're doing one? Have you manged to build up your empties?

NARS Eyeshadow Haul
Recently I hit the dreaded 2-9! It will be the last year of my twenties and the thought that it is my last year makes me want to cry. To celebrate and to cheer myself up I thought I’d splash out in Space NK and pick up some NARS. It has been such a long time since I had a spurge in Space NK/NARS and I thought it was well and truly deserved.
So here's what I treated myself to...
I've my little eye on Isolde for quite some time. Gold and bronze shades are my favourite as they can make you look so bright and alive in the eyes! I always find they catch the light really well. They also can be easily worn in the day time quite simply but vamped up to create a smoldering evening look.
I picked up my duos at Space NK, but you can pick them up at numerous places and online. They are a tad expensive at £24 each but they truly are gorgeous shades. I don't think Isolde will be leaving my makeup bag very soon.
Have you ever bought NARS shadows? Do you have any recommendations?

So here's what I treated myself to...
Top to bottom: Isolde and Kalahari
I've my little eye on Isolde for quite some time. Gold and bronze shades are my favourite as they can make you look so bright and alive in the eyes! I always find they catch the light really well. They also can be easily worn in the day time quite simply but vamped up to create a smoldering evening look.
Isolde
The gold and bronze tones of Isolde are so intense, they were exactly what I have been searching for a quite a while. They remind me of MAC's Woodwinked and Bronze which are two of my favourite shades. The pigmentation of the duo is breathtakingly good. I know I sound quite dramatic describing a shadows pigment as breathtaking but I'm not going to lie. It takes no effort at all to transfer the colour from the pan to the eye lid.
I actually wore the gold in my Christmas day look video which you can see here if you wish.
Kalahari
This duo is one of those everyday palettes featuring a soft gold and a warm coco brown pair. The colours are not as intense as Isolde, but still incredibly pretty. I will certainly get my use out of this! I love the coco brown.

Marks and Spencer Beauty
Gone are the days where you used to buy only your fancy knickers and Grandad's birthday present in Marks and Spencer. They are now branching out into beauty. Big time!
For quite a while now Marks and Spencer have been selling their own brand products but now they have a foray of exciting goodies on the shelves.
In some select stores they have now got their beauty department showing some amazing brands from the likes of Murad, Tara Smith, Filorga, Lyn Harris, H2O+, Nuxe, Pure, Skyn to name a few!!
I have to say I'm excited the Marks and Spencer has gone down the beauty route. I love a bit of Marks and Spencer so now I have more reason to drop on by! After my spending ban obviously.
I hope they try and launch into some smaller larger stores. I'd hate to have to venture to Marble Arch or Westfield Stratford every time I fancied checking out their goodies :-(
What do you think of Marks and Spencer Beauty? Yay or Nay?

Essie ~ Beyond Cosy
I cannot seem to get enough of my Essie polishes at the moment, especially the Winter Collection trio. Beyond Cosy...one third of that collection is a real stunner.
If you're not a fan of annoying glitter polishes, then perhaps this will be up your street. 2 to 3 coats will give you the perfect look. I think this is a very unique shade with it's... is a gold or silver shimmer hues. It's something very special. Also this is easy to remove unlike glitter! Thumbs up for you Beyond Cosy!
Before I started my 100 day spending ban I picked up a large bottle of Snap Happy, I really wish I added this to my basket too. I hope that this is still available in April to buy once my 100 days are finished.
