New Topshop Shoes

Hands up if you find shoe shopping an effort?  A chore?  Aye, I certainly do.  If life was perfect I'd be able to walk into one shop and find what I need in one hit.  If I need new shoes  I usually either go to Tesco or Primark as that's as far as I like to venture to these days.  I can't remember the last time I went crazy in the shoe aisle.

A few weeks/months ago I saw Ingrid in one of her video talking about her Vans and I quite liked the look of hers.  I kept it in my mind that one day I'd like my own Vans.   Then one day at band camp... Wait no actually at Topshop I made a discovery - Van shoe look-alikes!!  I then bought three pairs of the same shoe... Yes I am one of those people that if I find a shoe I like... I buy pretty much every colour I can find.  Sad I know.  But at £20 a pop it's technically not a bad investment.

These for me kind of resemble primary school plimsolls (remember those) however these are way more cool!  I'm getting fancy look-alike Van style shoes for peanuts too.   Win win!  I also like that these are not trainers,  very causal and stylish. Here are the shoes I got.

Tiga Slip On Skater Snake skin shoes - HERE
random black and white snake skin (faux of course) I was intially drawn to these for the style.  I kind of thought why not give you a go as it's something different!  When I wear them people always very complimentary on the way they look.

I also bought the Scuba Skater HERE, the material to me resembles a wet suit -  rubber spongy in texture.  Sounds weird but looks good,  so who cares.

Finally... I also bought faux fur skaters (couldn't find a link -  sorry).  At 31 I never thought I would like faux fur shoes lol.  They definitely were not on my wish list.  But hey I'm trying to be more stylish and be down with the kids!

So that's it... I'm in a shoe band for the rest of the year.  Would you wear any of these?  Do you like the style?

Essie/Nails Inc/TopShop

Whilst rummaging through ever expanding nail polish collection I came across a common thing. I seem to like turquoise.

Turquoise and Caicos, Haymarket. Pool Party

These three could be related. Distant cousins perhaps.  In the bottles they all have their slight differences but once you apply them to the nails they pretty much look the same.

SwatchesTurquoise and Caicos, Haymarket. Pool Party

When it comes to comparing the polishes and how they apply I will say that TopShops Pool Party is sprinting ahead.  Nails Inc Haymarket is seconds behind leaving Essie Turquoise and Caicos covered in dust.

I own quite a few Essie polishes now and this one is slightly disappointing. It takes three coats to get a good coverage whilst Haymarket and Pool Party you can just apply two.  Pool Party if applied thick enough could actually be applied in just one coat. Amazing huh?!

Now for prices.  The most expensive is Haymarket at a tad expensive £11.  Second up is Essie at £7.99. Then there is my favourite Pool Party at £5.  If I had to repurchase any of these it would certainly be Pool Party.  Not because it is cheaper (but that does help) but because it just better than the rest.  Simple really.

* Nails Inc Haymarket was a PR event gift.  I did not buy this with my own money however the Essie and TopShop polishes were purchased with my own hard earned cash :-)

September Favourites

Yes I'm slightly late but hey, you don't mind do you?  I'm always fashionably late.  Looking back on my blog I feel like it's been forever since I did a favourites post.  I've been all about the empties - which I do have a post on route for you.  Go me!

Practically every item I mention here does have an individual review on, with the exception of some.

Clarins Ever Matte ~ I had to mention this really, it was a must.  Ever since I bought this I have felt the urge to ditch all my other foundations.  I think this is the best foundation I have ever come across.  It has become my new and only bestest friend.  I have a full review here.

TopShop Nail Polish in Pool Party ~ A fun, bright colour I don't think this is a just for summer colour.  For a £5 polish the application is amazing.  You could easily get away with my coat.  And the lasting power is exceptional too!  Swatches here!

Stila Eyeshadow in Sun ~  I've had this lurking around for sometime but never tend to reach for it.  But I felt like I needed an eye catching shadow and opposed to usually reaching for Kitten I opted for this instead. Very neutral ...it's perfect for an all over the lid look, especially on a lazy makeup day.

MeMeMe Boho Balm in Pink Rouge ~ I took to Jersey with me and used it everyday.  As you can see from the below picture it is getting a lot of attention as it's a bit yucky looking.  I love the pink for the cheeks.  It gives a beautiful flush almost like a natural glow.  I have used the red/coral on my lips too which looks stunning.  See my review and swatches here.

TopShop Cheek Duo Dessert Sun ~  Soon to become a favourite blush this is a subtle colour.  It looks big and bold in the pan but trust me when I say it's much more delicate than it looks. If you want to see swatches see my review here.

MeMeMe Pink Rouge, TopShop Dessert Sun and Stila's Sun

I have a few more favourites which I like to call tools...

Caudalie Beauty Elixir ~ A cult favourite and I can see why.  This just makes me feel good when I spritz it on my face.  It refreshes and makes pores smaller and it's a small bottle which you can take anywhere!

Real Technique Buffing and Contour Brushes ~ Part of the Core set I don't think I've really put these down lately.  The buffing brush is perfect for applying my Clarins, it buffs it in perfectly with no streaking.  For flawless foundation application I'd buy the set just for the buffing brush.  Now the contour brush is what I've been using to apply my MeMeMe cream blush,  it's the perfect size and so soft it makes applying cream blush effortless.  I totally recommend the Core Set.

Shu Uemera Eye Lash Curlers ~  I never used to be that fussed about curling my lashes but now I own the cult favourite eye lash curler I just cannot stop myself from curling every morning.  My curl does fall out slightly but that's probably my lashes or maybe my mascara not helping.... I'm not sure.  I think I need some eye lash curling tips.

I hope you enjoyed my favourites.  Also I hope you're having a good October so far!

Topshop ~ Moonstone

I have been lusting after this polish for quite some time and recently I gave into the lust and treated myself . . .which I seem to do a lot evidently.  Having a large Topshop on my door step in London usually always leads me into temptation.

The bottle and two coats

Moonstone is an out of this world polish.  A stunning pearly shade which can look so differently depending on how many layers you apply.

One coat gives a nice pearly wash to the nails a subtle look.  Two coats gives you a more bold shimmery pearl nail which I think is gorgeous.  I am definitely taking this baby on my holiday!

This is only £5, I dare you to treat yourself to it, you'll love it!

I am a domestic goddess

Ha! Not really!  The only time I am really a domestic goddess is when I am wearing Topshops nail polish called strangely enough . . . Domestic Goddess.  This cutely named polish is a hard colour to describe.  Is it a red? a pink? a brown?  The only colours this reminds me of is the colour of brick dust or perhaps Autumn leaves . . .?

It is a unique shade I think . . . it’s not one of those colours which you will see every nail polish company selling.  I feel as though this is unique to Topshop.  Online, Topshop say this is Mauve and some reviews call this pink -  I will disagree with both.  I think it’s more on the red/brown or a dusty rose.  But I certainly don’t see any pink. . . do you?

As for application you could easily get away with one coat (a thick coat).  A thin coat is a little streaky but none the less the coverage is excellent and at £5.00 it’s a winner!

Topshop Makeup Look! #FOTD

Well if you noticed my last post, you'd know I'd done some shopping in Topshop and got some bits from their makeup collection.

So I thought I'd throw together a quick look for you.  Ta-da!

Excuse the under dressed eyebrows.  Bad me!

This is obviously a smoky look with a twist, this twist being the gold.  You'd think this look would take a while but honestly five minutes and I was done.  Five minutes per eye I mean :-)

To finish the look, I popped on my new lipstick in Rumour Has It....totally digging this colour.  I love how natural it looks.

Finally a quick mug shot of ones self.  Sorry for the dazed looking expression, I was just snapping away and thought this one looked the best.   Would you be interested in me making a video for this look?  Let me know :-D

Topshop Makeup Haul

Most people on Friday nights are out on the town after work.  Me on the other hand headed to the gym for a hard core workout.  However not before nipping in to my local Topshop for a look at their makeup collection. Here's what I treated myself to.

There were so many things I could of bought, but I held back.  Don't you just love the packaging?

Eye Crayon in shades Sun Shower and Bramble

There were about 5 different shades in the Topshop store at the New Change, Cheapside to choose from.  I opted for the bronzed-golden look and chose Sun Shower and Bramble.  When I did the obligatory swatch in store I was completed shocked when it came to the colour pay off with these two.  They stuck like glue and didn't move, I knew I had to get these home at once.

At £7.50 each and pretty much resembling a MAC Shadestick, apart from the more expensive price tag.  Topshops cheaper alternatives are much more attractive. these long lasting metallic crayons are creamy and apply like a dream.  But the truly amazing thing is they last a long time and don't budge.  After the swatching on the hand I literally had to scrub my hand to remove it.

Here's swatches of the crayons and the lipstick.

  Rumour Has It . . . Sun Shower . . . Bramble

Lipstick in Rumour Has It

When I think of this lipstick I just want to start singing Adele . . . a dusty rose brown wouldn't be my typical choice of colour.  But this is actually really nice, kind of a slightly darker version of my own lip colour.  Very natural looking.

When you apply to the lips it's feels silky and has quite a creamy velvet finish.  It just looks eye catching instead of a boring dusky rose brown, it catches the light.  What I love the most is it lasts for ages.  This is my very first lipstick from Topshop and I'm super impressed with it's performance and look!!

Nail Polish in Geography Teacher

There's something strangely nice about this £5 camel brown polish.  Two coats and no top coat and the glossiness is just perfect.  Oddly though, I think the name suits this well in a weird way.  My collection of Topshop polishes is slowly building, they have a excellent colour selection . . . what to buy next?

Have you ever picked up any of these?  Do you have any recommendations?

Happy Monday!!!!

Hey everyone,  Happy Monday!!!! Hope you all had a great weekend...roll on the next one I say :- )

Anyways, I should have posted this on Sunday - but I was detained else where (I was out sun bathing in my garden, can you blame me).  This is a look I did Sunday morning,  nothing too exciting, but thought I’d share it with you all as I like it....

You like...?  It's a kind of natural looking face and nude lips with a gold/bronze lid with dark crease shading.

It's been a while since I've done a look like this, I'm usually a one shade all over the lid kind a girl.
Products I used are a range of drugstore/high street brands as well as some MAC products....

Randomly I forgot to use the number 3 in the pic above, don't worry i'm not crazy...yet!

1 Primark Bloominous Liquid Bronzer/illuminator

2 Revlon Photo Ready Foundation (shade 003 Shell)

4Collection 2000 Naturally Radiant Foundation (shade 02 Ivory)

5 Maybelline Stilleto Voluptuous Mascara

6 Benefit Powder flage

7 Revlon Peach Petal lip gloss

8 Dior Nior Trindad Water proof eye liner

9 Mac Feline (Ltd Edition) eye liner

10 NYX Milk Jumbo Eye Pencil

11 Collection 2000 Lasting perfection concealer (shade 2)

12 Mac Painterly Paint pot

13 Mac Mineralised Skin Finish Natural (light medium)
Mac Mineralised Skin Finish( Perfect Topping Ltd edition)
14
15Top Shop Makeup Neon Rose Cream Blush

.....and for shadows see below

Yes they look an odd bunch of eyeshadows, but together they look great. Click picture for names.

Close up of the eyes for you to see in more detail...

 Pretty !!!!!
It’s a very simple look to achieve,  what I did was put the MAC Painterly P.P. on the lid up to the brow bone  and blended with my finger.  Then I put Milk NYX J.E.P. on the lid and blended with my finger.  Then all over the lid I placed NYX Peach eye shadow.  Then with a stiff dome brush I took MAC Copperplate and placed this in the outer corner of the lid and lightly brought it into the crease (approx to the centre not all the way across). Then I mixed MAC’s Blanc Type and Grain for brow highlight.  I brought this down lightly into the crease so it blended Copperplate out ever so slightly.  To finish the shadows place a tiny amount of Grain into the inner corner of the eye.  Line the top  lid with MAC’s Feline liner and then rim the top water line with the Dior Water Proof liner.  And then to finish just add mascara.

For the rest of the face I mixed both the Revlon and Collection 2000 foundations and also added Primark Bloomious liquid bronzer. Concealed my dark circles and discolorations.  Applied my cream blush in Neon Rose.  Put the Powder Flage over the concealer.  And dusted a light coating of Mineralise skin finish Natural by MAC all over the face.  Finished of by highlighting with MAC’s Mineralised Skin Finish in Perfect Topping.

Revlon Peach Petal lip gloss.
To finish off apply

Tad da .....

Ready for some goofy pictures....

So what do you think?  Is this look yay or nay?  Would love to know you feed back :- )

Bad times....

Have you ever felt completely let down by a product?  Felt like you’ve wasted your cash on something you thought might be good?  Well I did here.

From my Top Shop haul, I purchased this...

The green nail polish in Carry on Camping RRP £5. (Picture shown with 2 coats of polish)

Well people all I can say is, this polish is a no go for me.  Streaky, watery, not a good coverage.  Just not that great in my opinion.  And for £5 I feel slightly robbed, especially when I could have picked up TWO yes TWO Barry M polishes for 90p more.

I felt slightly let down by the colour too.  The polish in the bottle looks like a dirty green, a colour that I’m drawn too.  But this is more of a dark Granny Smith apple green colour.

You can see in the pictures above that after one coat, they look awful...

Would I buy any more from the Top Shop range??  I doubt it, but I don’t want to give every Top Shop Polish the same label of not being that good.  I haven’t tried them all and some might actually be nice.  Who knows.  But for now I’m going to stick to my Collection 2000’s and Barry M polishes.  I may also have a spurge on some OPI polishes on EBAY....hmmmm :- )

Have you yet been let down by a polish or any other product?

Topshop Makeup Haul

As I arrived home from work on Monday night, I had the tell tale signs that I’d been to some kind of makeup counter...

Guilty as charged!!!! And where did I get these marks from? None other than the new makeup line from Topshop!!!

I’d read some good reviews of this new line that was only released in early May, and I suppose I got the case of the green eyed monster and wanted in on the action myself. Besides it’s been a while since I’d gone to Topshop flag ship store on Oxford Street.

I picked up a few things that caught my eye.

1 Bronzer in Radiance 2 @ £8.00
2 Eye crayon in Moon shine £7.00
3 Nail polish in Carry on Camping @£5.00
4 Blush in Neon Rose @ £6.00
5 Lip stick pencil in Vintage £7.00

I'm dead excited to try out my new purchases, especially the lip crayon. When I tested this it was gorgeous, I also can’t wait to test the Moon shine eye crayon. It’s such an intense silver it’ll just makes your eyes pop.  You can see the Moon shine swatches on my hand above.

I didn’t purchase any of the eye shadows.  When I swatched the ones I thought were pretty - they had no pigment at all and were a real disappointment. There were tonnes of nail polishes to choose from, but they are £5 each which I think is a lot. Barry M have just as many colours and for almost half the price. But i purchased one just to see what it was like and to give my thoughts.

Anyways this weekend is my Topshop testing weekend, I’ve already used the blush lots this week so far... and i am loving it.

Watch this space for reviews and pictures. Have you seen the new collection? What are your thoughts and what have you added to your wish list?
