Primark Beauty Neon Polish

I'm loving neon shades at the moment.  The reason why might be due to the yucky English weather.  There is nothing quite like some fun bright colours to bring some happiness into your day.

The two pink shades apply excellently... two coats and you are good to go.  However the neon green and yellow polishes need a little more of a helping hand with three to four coats as they are on the sheer side.

For a cheap set of four shades these are a great bargain, especially as neon as very 'in' right now.  You can pick these four up in your local Primark for £2. Ooo I do like myself a bargain.

Paul and Joe ~ Nail Enamel 17

If you like the NARS blush in Orgasm... then you may want to keep reading.

This Paul and Joe nail polish in the shade Enamel 17 - Downtown is an excellent dup has all the marking of Orgasm.

The pinky peach polish has a faint gold shimmer which is gorgeous. This is very rose gold and I love it. And the bottle is a master piece... very art deco. All Paul and Joe packaging takes on this look.

Paul and Joe polishes come in a beautiful array of shades but also contain active conditioning properties that care for your fingertips.  Two birds with one stone.

These polishes retail for about £10 each and can be bought from Selfridges, BeautyLand, Beauty Bay and ASOS.

Marks and Spencer Jewel Limited Collection

To me winter time is the season for pulling out the plumy mulled wine shades of nail polish.  Nothing quite says winter than a shade like Marks and Spencer's Jewel.

Jewel*

A warm and cosy deep metallic looking red wine hue this is certainly an 'it' shade. Two coats of this gives you the perfect coverage.

This is my first encounter of the Marks and Spencer Limited Collection line and I'm quite impressed with this little beauty. For under £4 you get a stunner.  I'd be more than happy to check out the rest of the line.

Have you tried anything from Marks and Spencer beauty yet?

All that glitters with Barry M

Barry M have brought out some stunning shades to adorn our finger tips.  And just in time Christmas too which is pretty awesome.  To hit the shelves are some pretty cool glitter polishes and here is two of them.

Amethyst and Diamond Jewel Glitter Nail Paint

Amethyst is the prettiest rainbow shade full of pink, blue, silver and black glitters pieces which are small in size.  I think this is the perfect party shade used all over the nails or as a sparkly top coat.  When you apply it to the nails it's very blue toned which is unique I think.

Diamond is as it suggests a silver 'diamond' like glitter.  Unlike Amethyst there is a mixture of small and large pieces of silver glitter pieces.  I have already tried Diamond over the top of Revlon's Sheer Petal and the combination looks so cute and girly I think.

Sorry for the dodgy Instagram shot!

I have shown you what Diamonds looks like... so stay tuned for a post on Amethyst coming soon!

These are in Boots and Superdrug stores now and retail for £2.99 each.  You can also buy them direct from Barry M.

Revlon ~ Sheer Petal

Today nails are a little plain and simple... nothing too fancy.  I wanted a light baby pink colour for a while and was tempted to go shopping for Essie Ballet Slippers as I’ve heard that is a nice polish.  However after whilst rummaging through my collection last night, I came across Revlon’s Sheer Petal which is sheer pink shade which is perfect everyday colour.  This would be a great for a French manicure base.

This picture shows two coats which creates the look I was aiming for.  One coat is quite a nice look also.  I’ve never really used Revlon polishes before apart from Facets of Fuchsia, but this was nice to work with.  A little runny in consistency but it did dry very fast.  I was able to apply two coats in no time at all.

Essie ~ Lilacism

If you are an Essie fan, there is no doubt in my mind that you would of heard of Lilacism.  A creamy milky lilac shade, which takes two coats to give a non streaky coverage.  A lovely colour indeed.

However I feel this is a little light for my skin tone and also I feel like the polish is missing its 'X-factor'.  It's lovely but I just feel like I need something else with it. Perhaps some glitter or some shimmer of some sort.

Have you tried Lilacism?

Essie Haul!

This post shouldn't really surprise you, as you all know I'm becoming a die hard Essie fan.  My collection is slowing getting fatter week by week.

So what are my new buys I hear you ask?

Bahama Mama and Lilacism

Polar opposites...  an autumnal deep red and a lilac!  They couldn't be more different but they screamed at me in Superdrug and accidently fell into my basket! Honest!

I thought I'd show you Bahama Mama now as this is the 'it' shade for fall/autumn i think.  It's that perfect deep red.

Bahama Mama

A swatch post for Lilacism will follow, I guarantee you that.  It looks so pretty in the bottle.  What was your last polish you bought?

Friday Favourite # 3

We all love a bit of bling!  Come on admit it!

When it comes in the form of nail polish glitter then I love bling even more....though I'm not the biggest fan, due to the fact glitter polishes are like the most stubborn kind of polish to remove. A hammer and chisel does come in handy sometimes!

Nails Inc Nail Jewellery in Royal Arcade*

I picked up Royal Arcade when I went to a PR event earlier this year.  I wish I got my mitts on more of their glitter polishes are they are such a good quality and very pretty.

The polish itself is clear and it contains a mixture of small fine pieces and small and large hexagonal pieces of bright sapphire blue glitter.  Hopefully you'll be able to tell in my pictures - fingers crossed.

This looks great especially as a top coat over another polish.  I have it on top of Pool Party.  You can also use it alone if you wish, but I think as a top coat it gives a regular polished look something a little extra!

Happy Friday everybody!

Essie ~ Cute As A Button!

My newest Essie polish has made me all warm and fuzzy inside. I picked this up in my not so recent feelunique haul which you can read here.

I think this has to be one of my most favourite polishes which I have picked up. A hot favourite for summer. Not like it is really summer anymore!  I admit I'm still wearing this and It's now October.

It applies beautifully....like a dream actually. One coat applied thickly will do the trick.  Lasting power as like all Essie polishes is excellent.

What's your favourite summertime polish???

Topshop ~ Pool Party

For my holiday to Jersey I thought I'd get into the holiday mood and paint my nails with my new polish called Pool Party.  Jersey is known for being the warmest and sunniest place in the British Isles, sadly it's been a bit soggy since me and the hubby arrived.  But Pool Party has brightened my day!

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos
Pool Party

Pool Party is a bluey greeny turquoise aqua - it's a bit of a hard polish to categorise.  When I asked the hubby what he thought he said 'Tiffany Box' sprung to mind.  So I think I'll stick to the hubby's description.  It is very simiular to Nails Inc's Haymarket, if not slightly darker...but they could certainly be relations.

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos
Nails Inc Royal Arcade ring finger with Topshop Pool Party

Two coats of Pool Party will do perfectly, one coat alone is a little streaky but will do if you're in a rush.  For something extra I have added a coat of Nails Inc Royal Arcade which is a blue glitter to my ring finger.  I think it makes this pop even more.

am building myself quite a collection of Topshop polishes, I think they are amazing quality and the range of colours they have is excellent.
What are you loving right now?

Emerald Isle NPOTW

This is my final polish from the Primark haul of polishes which you can see here.  I have also shown Foiled Again which is another Primark polish here.

This is the least impressive polish of the bunch.  To get any kind of coverage you have to really layer this up. This picture above has at least three coats of polish and it still doesn't give the great coverage of the nail.

I would probably team this up with another polish as a base then use this as a top coat.  If you're planning on buying this polish and using it alone then I wouldn't recommend it.  I might do another post/NPOTW showing this as a top coat, then I might start to like it!  But for under £2 it's not a big loss if I don't use it ever again.

Topshop ~ Moonstone

I have been lusting after this polish for quite some time and recently I gave into the lust and treated myself . . .which I seem to do a lot evidently.  Having a large Topshop on my door step in London usually always leads me into temptation.

The bottle and two coats

Moonstone is an out of this world polish.  A stunning pearly shade which can look so differently depending on how many layers you apply.

One coat gives a nice pearly wash to the nails a subtle look.  Two coats gives you a more bold shimmery pearl nail which I think is gorgeous.  I am definitely taking this baby on my holiday!

This is only £5, I dare you to treat yourself to it, you'll love it!

Foiled Again NPOTW

Following up from my post this week here, showing you my new nail polishes from Primark, yes Primark!!  I thought I'd show you the next gorgeous polish which is Foiled Again.

This is the silver metallic polish of the trio and it is stunning for a cheap £1.50 polish.  I am only wearing one coat and it looks great.  There is some streaky patches - namely down the side of the thumb nail, but one coat is wearable definitely.

What I really like about these polishes is they aren't as difficult to remove like glitter polishes.  They also last a really long time and don't hardly chip at all.

Keep an eye open for my next polish - Emerald Isle!!!

Primark beauty goodies

We all know Primark is full of fantastic bargains be it clothes, shoes, accessories.  Primark is also pretty good for their beauty items. Some can be a little on the cheap side but some can be great finds. Recently on a mini shopping spree I noticed Primark have bought out some new new polishes.

Emerald Isle, Foiled Again and Delicious

At £1.50 each it would be silly not to pick at least one of the polishes.  But I liked three of them so I thought why not.  Emerald Isle is exotic green colour glitter.  Foiled Again is a metallic silver shade.  And Delicious is another metallic polish but this time in a purple colour.

I thought I'd show you firstly Delicious a lilac purpley metallic polish.  For a cheap polish this covers very nicely.  You could do one coat but it would be slightly streaky in places.  But if applied thickly you could get away with one coat.  The shine is amazing, it probably helps because of the metallic polish finish.

I will show you Emerald Isle and Foiled Again later on this week.  Have you ever bought any beauty items from Primark?

I am a domestic goddess

Ha! Not really!  The only time I am really a domestic goddess is when I am wearing Topshops nail polish called strangely enough . . . Domestic Goddess.  This cutely named polish is a hard colour to describe.  Is it a red? a pink? a brown?  The only colours this reminds me of is the colour of brick dust or perhaps Autumn leaves . . .?

It is a unique shade I think . . . it’s not one of those colours which you will see every nail polish company selling.  I feel as though this is unique to Topshop.  Online, Topshop say this is Mauve and some reviews call this pink -  I will disagree with both.  I think it’s more on the red/brown or a dusty rose.  But I certainly don’t see any pink. . . do you?

As for application you could easily get away with one coat (a thick coat).  A thin coat is a little streaky but none the less the coverage is excellent and at £5.00 it’s a winner!

If Barry M & Revlon got it on....

So if the above blog post title did truly happen I think it would be sweet harmony.  If you're wondering what I'm mumbling about it's this . . .

(L-R) Revlon: Facets of Fuchsia and Barry M: Vivid Purple 161

I know these polishes have been out and about for ages now but this the first time I have paired them together.  I'd bought them on separate occasions but the thought of them together had never crossed my mind.  Until now.

Dark natural lighting

I think the Vivid Purple is quite a good base for the Revlon.  You could also apply to a black base if you wanted.  The Facets of Fuchsia does look good alone, but it needs to be built up with a few layers to look good.  That is why I used a purple base colour to cheat and create the look faster.

Flash

I really like this look and I lovely glittery nails, it's oh so girly.  The only annoyance is the fact you need a chisel and hammer to remove the glitter once you want to remove the polish.  Why are glitter polishes so difficult to remove?!

Whats your favourite glitter polish??

Leighton Denny ~ Plush Pink

So as promised . . . a nice swatch of the free Leighton Denny polish you'll receive with the July copy of Harpers Bazaar.  The polish is called Plush Pink and I think it is the perfect bright fuchsia pink.  I have actually wanted a pink like this one for a while, but hadn't seen one that wowed me.  I am glad I spotted this on the shelves.

If there is one thing that is so hot about this polish is the coverage.  You could easily get away with one coat, it is seriously that good.  In the picture I have two coats to achieve an even finish.   It is so glossy it almost looks like it has a top coat on already.

My only other experience with  Leighton Denny polishes is one I received in a Glossy Box.  I really like that polish (called Baby Doll) and that one lasts without chipping for approximately a week.

Leighton Denny polishes retail for £11.00 and can be purchased online here.  Harpers Bazaar retails for £4.20, big difference in price.  From my experiences of Leighton Denny polishes so far, they are all positive.  And I'm intrigued to try more from the brand.

Have you tried any Leighton Denny polishes?  Do you have any shades you recommend?

All About Nails ~ Praline

Just a quick follow up from Tesco All About Nails purchase back in February.  On my initial post back in February I thought this was called Heather, but it's actually called Praline.  I think I picked the name Heather due to the colour of this polish.  Whoospie!

For 99p it's a lovely polish and I really love it.  Some polishes can cost so much yet this is only 99p. . . Bargain of the century!!!  The colour is a plum brown and it has excellent coverage.  Who would believe this is just one coat??

Have you managed to check these out at all??

Essie ~ Fiji

There is another new Essie polish on the block.  You can tell I’m loving my Essie, I’m so thankful they have been released in the UK.  I found out this weekend that my local Boots are now stocking them . . . Hallelujah!!

My new Essie love is none other the Fiji, I’d seen few gurus wearing this I thought it looked amazing on their nails.  When I found out what they were wearing, I knew it would make the Essie shopping list.

I'm completely smitten with this polish, it just has this wow factor about it but I just can't figure out why.  I've never liked white nails, but this is a white with a hint of baby pink.  It is a more natural looking colour - not so harsh as a plain white.

With a base and top coat the longevity is excellent as always with Essie polishes.  You can get around 5 days wear before it starts to look a little tired around the edges.  To achieve the perfect nail look, I did two to three coats.  You can get away with two but it'll have a little streaky patch here and there so three coats gives you the flawless coverage you're looking for.

Are you loving Essie just as much as me?!

Essie ~ Tea and Crumpets

Being English I was immediately attracted to this polish because of the name.  Nothing is quite English like tea and crumpets.

For me to describe this colour is a bit of a mouthful.  I describe this as a frosted skin toned nude beige.  A subtle colour which a pearly looking.  This is one of those shades that looks good whether you apply one, two or three coats.

This is definitely going to be a favourite.  Have you ever tried Tea and Crumpets?
