Summer Makeup Look

It's summer time finally... hip hip hurrah!

I personally find summer time the best time for wearing makeup ...why you ask?  Because I try to wear less of it!  Thick foundations are replaced by light BB creams or tinted moisturisers to let the skin breath.  And some times if I feeling daring, I might just wear a concealer.  Ooooooo errrrrrrrrr!

The above look is something I have been wearing quite often, so I thought I'd share with ya all.  Below listed are all the items used, which are from the high street/ drug store....so we can all have a go.  It isn't an out of reach look where I'm only wearing a high end brand.

So what's on my face is......drum roll!

Rimmel 9-in-1 BB Cream in Light
Maybelline Age Rewind Dark Circle Remover
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer
Seventeen Miracle Matte Powder
Rimmel Blusher in Pink Rose
Wet & Wild Eye Shadow Trio in Walking on Eggshells
Blistex Lip Balm in Raspberry Lemonade
Maybelline Master Shape Brow Pencil in Dark Brown
Max Factor Wild Mega Volume Mascara
NYX Butter Gloss in Éclair

A pretty inexpensive face, which any one can achieve.  I'm going to try and create some more drug store looks so stay tuned folks.

See you soon!

Vichy - Dermablend Fluid Foundation

For quite a few weeks now I have been consistently been wearing Vichy's Dermablend Fluid Corrective Foundation.  Before wanting to report back to you guys I wanted to use and abuse it, so I could give you my full and honest opinion.

So a little about the Vichy Dermablend line.  Dermablend was mainly created to help with problematic skin.  Acne scaring, rosacea, burns, vitiligo, birth marks, tattoos, uneven skin tones, hyper pigmentation.  There are lots of different products from the line which can be used.  Click the link here to find what will suit you.

This Corrective Foundation is mainly aimed at people with light to medium skin issues like redness, acne scaring and uneven skin tones.  I am fortunate to have never suffered from acne - however I do have redness, dark cirlces and a few broken capillaries which need covering.

My one piece of advice before applying this is to get the base ...i.e. your skin exfoliated and moisturised with a good moisturiser.  This product and dry skin do not go together well.  It will grab hold of any dry and flakey patches of skin.  Our foundation should be flawless, not drawing attention to it with a big neon sign.

So once the base is prepped lets talk about how to apply to the skin.

You know the motto 'less is more'....remember this.  If you apply too much it will look cakey and it will also settle into any fine lines.  I discovered this when I slapped too much on and just looked a little gross.  The best way I have learnt is to layer it.  Thin layers, building up where you need more coverage.

Lets see the before and after shots.

Here is me ... bare faced with only a moisturiser on as a base (I used the Avene Rich Hydrating Cream for reference).  Take note of the dark circles, the light pigmentation on my nose and cheeks and the redness around my nose.

When I apply this I much perfer to use my fingers or a Beauty Blender sponge.  Dabbing layers on is far better than brushing I have found.  The brushing motion can move the product before it has had a chance to set, plus it can leave streaks.

The liquid is not too thick and glides on.  It is very blendable and the coverage is medium to high... it all depends on how much you layer on.

Now the after shot...

OK... Yes you can slightly still see my dark circles, but if you compare the pictures there is a dramatic difference.  I have not concealled, I have only used the foundation.  I am more than happy with the look.  My second piece of advice is to use a powder to set everything.  Vichy do sell a loose setting powder which works perfectly with this.

So is the Dermablend worth it??? 100% yes!  If you need to cover skin problems then give this a go.  As long as you moisturise and use a setting powder you will have a long lasting coverage.  Well the tube does say it lasts up to 16hours.  Also for reference i used shade Opal 15.

Any bad stuff to report??? As long as you layer it and don't slap it on, you will be fine.  I did feel I did need to blot my face and reapply powder ... but I get a oily t-zone so it is not very surprising to me.

Do you suffer from skin complaints?  Would you give this a go?  I'd certainly recommend it and to be honest dermatologists recommend it also.  You can purchase from Escentual and Boots (in store and online at Boots).

Who loves the 80s???

In the few weeks I'm off to a hen party which is all about the 80s.  If you Google 80s makeup you will see it's all about bright bold makeup.

I thought I'd try and experiment with a look and this is the result...

Saturday's FOTD

Yay so I filmed a new video of me slapping my face on yesterday.

It was meant to be up on YouTube on the same day, however due to me being a little cool and figuring out how to do a voice over... The video turned out to be a fatty at over 1GB.

Nearly FOUR HOURS later it finally uploaded at about 2am and after a little check to see if all good - here it is!!!!!

Enjoy and have a great Sunday!!!!

Gym Makeup Look

Whether you love or loath the gym, the gym is the place to get fit!  I would of never thought of myself as a gym bunny... ever!  If I'd said to myself 18 months ago that I'd be going to the gym for at least 1 hour 30 minutes a week... four times a week and that I'd have a personal trainer... I would of rolled over and laughed in your face and said whatever!

Oh how ones life has changed.

I personally am more than happy to step into the gym practically bare faced... I will never put on a full face.  I see no point, that's not the reason I attend a gym.  However there are some ladies out there who like to go the distance and wear a face like they are going out clubbing.  Seriously why!?

This post and accompanying video is all about what makeup to wear at the gym, if you wish to wear some.

So if I'm attending the gym on a weekend I like to wear a light face product, generally a BB Cream or tinted moisturiser. Botanics BB Cream in Light is the perfect product as it's good for you (Radiant Youth!) and it covers well... but it doesn't clog pores. Winner!

Now, I personally would be happy with just a BB Cream but to make it long lasting and for an extra bit of coverage I've added Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Mohair to my face.  A light dusting is all.

For a wash of colour to the lids, a cream based shadow is perfect. The Clinique Quick Eyes Cream Shadow in Starlit Pink, which is discontinued... sob sob! is perfect.  It gives a nice sheer wash of colour to the lids.

Now no one enjoys looking like a cute furry panda, so I highly recommend a waterproof mascara to avoid that situation. The Maybelline Waterproof Illegal Lengths Mascara is my choice for the job!  This doesn't budge.

Now to finish off, just use your favourite lip balm and I'm opting for Fresh Lip Treatment in Sugar.   It tastes yummy is excellent treatment for lips which need some TLC!

So that's everything I used.  You could use these items for every day minimal makeup if you wish, not just the gym.  The video below is a short demo of the application and a general chit chat from yours truly!

That's it folks!  Enjoy and have a fantastic day and remember the gym never killed anyone... it's a good place!

Christmas Day Makeup Tutorial

I know Christmas Day has long gone, but I thought you'd like to see my makeup I wore for the very special occasion.

Christmas only comes once a year to most people.  For me it's twice as I have one on the day and the other on Boxing Day (one with the in-laws and the other with my family).  This year I decided to make myself look pretty with golden eyes and a bright red lipstick!

See...

Here is a list of everything I used (in order):

Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation in 100 Ivory
Blistex Lip Balm Raspberry Lemonade Blast
MAC Paint Pot in Nubile
NARS Isolde Eyeshadow Duo
Natural Collection Eyeshadow in Midnight
Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Eyeliner in Black
Clinique High Impact Mascara
Maybelline Illegal Lengths Waterproof Mascara
Bobbi Brown Corrector in Light Bisque
MAC Select Cover Concealer in NW20
Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder in shade 1
Bare Minerals Ready SPF15 Touch Up Veil in Translucent
Bourjois Blusher in Love Struck Rose
MAC Mineralize Blush in Warm Soul
HD Brow Palette shade used Ash Brown
Rimmel London Kate Moss Matte Lipstick in 111

I made a little video showing the process too!  Much to the hubby's disapproval as he thought me making a video on Christmas Day would make us late for dinner...  But I didn't hehe!

Watch this is HD!

So that's what I wore.  What did you wear?

I hope you had excellent Christmas and I hope you like the video (it's a little different with some curvy music, it's better to watch it in HD as well)

TAG: Makeup Look for £20

There is a TAG floating around the blogging and You Tube world called the $20 Makeup Look.  I recently saw Fleur De Force’s version for the UK called the £20 Makeup Look.  Trying to buy makeup for only £20 wasn’t too bad.  Obviously you cannot buy high end products like Chanel, Dior or Estee Lauder for example, but you can buy a lot of drug store items if you shop sensibly.

In Fleur's You Tube video she included brushes in her budget.  I haven't however, as i have far too many brushes plus the TAG says £20 makeup look, the instruments to apply makeup I think don’t count.  But if you chose to join in, it is up to you if you want to included brushes or not.

So here’s what i bought and the prices and locations:

Foundation Collection 2000 Naturally Matt in Beige = £2.99 Boots
Concealer/Eye Primer MUA = £1.00 Superdrug
Mascara  Super Size Big Fat Lash in Black  = £2.99 Superdrug
Eyeshadow - Gold by Giles in Envy (available from New Look) = £3.99

Eye Liner Collection 2000 Extreme 24hour Felt Tip in Black = £2.99 Boots
Eyebrows - Rimmel London Eyebrow Pencil in Black/Brown = £2.99 Superdrug

Blusher - Natural Collections in Peach Melba = £1.99  (the only pre-owned product I used) Boots
Lipstick - this has no name but it's from Primark = £1.00

Total spend = £18.96

** - The Collection 2000 foundation and liner were purchased on offer in Boots at the time "any items worth £2.99, if you buy two you got them for £5.00".  That was the offer.

Now I suppose I could of bought a gloss with my remaining pennies but I chose to come home with some spare change. If you want to see my video of this makeup look then click below.

Will you be posting your £20/$20 makeup look?  I'd love to see it!!!

Topshop Makeup Look! #FOTD

Well if you noticed my last post, you'd know I'd done some shopping in Topshop and got some bits from their makeup collection.

So I thought I'd throw together a quick look for you.  Ta-da!

Excuse the under dressed eyebrows.  Bad me!

This is obviously a smoky look with a twist, this twist being the gold.  You'd think this look would take a while but honestly five minutes and I was done.  Five minutes per eye I mean :-)

To finish the look, I popped on my new lipstick in Rumour Has It....totally digging this colour.  I love how natural it looks.

Finally a quick mug shot of ones self.  Sorry for the dazed looking expression, I was just snapping away and thought this one looked the best.   Would you be interested in me making a video for this look?  Let me know :-D

Makeup look of the day...

So ladies, I thought I’d dazzle you with pictures of my make up look of the day.
The pictures are a little dodgy as I took them on my mobile at about 7.15 this morning. Excuse the dark circles, still in the process of making those bad boys disappear.

Being silly in the bathroom

Nothing out of this world, but I liked it.  I had to dust off a few products to achieve this look.

Now don't be scared...lol ...it's just me.

Close up of face

Close up of eyes

Urban decay's eyeshadow in Sin all over the lid with Twice Baked in the crease.  Blunt over the top of Twice Baked and up to the brow bone. Boots 17 liner in silver on the lower lash line.
The rest of the products....

.... and what they are:

Revlon colour stay foundation in Buff
Urban Decays Sin, Blunt and Twice baked
Laura Mercier Oil free Primer
Mac paint pot in Painterly
Collection 2000 lasting Perfection Concealer
Max Factor Lash Extension Effect
Boots 17 blushes; Bramble frost and Damson Wine
Boots 17 eyeliner in Silver
Bobbi Brown Pressed Face powder in Warm sands

*** Not pictured Barry M's 101 lip paint and clear gloss for the lips

Eye shadow swatches:

Blush swatches:

Inexpensive and pretty.  I used Bramble Frost as a highlight and Damson Wine as a blush.

Cue dodgy posing by me in my bathroom....
So vain..

So a sort of natural shimmery look?  I like it. I've forgotten how much I love my Urban Decay shadows.  I think I will bring them out to play again soon :- )

Night all,

As promised

Hey every one, so as promised i’m reporting back after my Bobbi Brown session tonight. And you know what, I was thoroughly impressed.
The time taken by Stephanie; her advice, her skills, her personality – first class!! Thumbs up!! I really enjoyed being her blank canvas and she even admitted when we were finished, that she really enjoyed working with me. Two happy people.

So want to see the finished look Stephanie created (plus a little help from yours truly)

Sorry for the poor lighting, it was pretty dark. Admittedly you can't really see the look

In the flesh, I describe this look as perfecto! You can see makeup in the photos but it’s not OTT – kind of natural English rose-ish.

After discussion with Stephanie, we opted for warm tones which look better on me. Warm eyes, warm blush, warm lips : -)  We used Ivory eyeshadow all over the lid and then a warm matte Taupe eyeshadow.  She also used a shadow Birch on my brows.  Lined my eyes with gel liner Espresso Ink then added mascara.  She added just a little blusher and finished off with liner and lipstick.

I purchased some of the products Stephanie used on me, i know i have some duplicates lurking around my vanity somewhere. But here i the things i did buy.

Lip stick Sandwash Tulle (54) pale neutral pink- £15.50
Lip Balm SPF 15 - £13.50
Blush Desert Rose (15) Muted pinky brown - £16.50
Lip liner Ballet pink (29) pale neutral pink - £14.00
Natural Finish Long Lasting Foundation SPF 15 Warm sands 2.5 - £28.00

sorry for dodgy face...lol

So what do you think?  Is this very bridal you think?
My second session with Stephanie is August 5th......can't wait.  Have you booked or had a makeup session with anyone recently???

I have a date.....

I thought I’d do a small post just to let you know I’m off to get myself beautified at House of Fraser by a Bobbi Brown Consultant after work tonight. I booked this appointment a few weeks ago whilst looking for wedding makeup ‘ideas’. I had been to the MAC counter and had a makeup session with them previously. But I wanted to try something new and I’ve never tried Bobbi Brown before. So I thought lets do it!!!!

The Bobbi Brown stand at HoF City is usually overflowing with people having looks done and you never get a chance to get to talk to any consultants. I always thought this was rude that no was there to help, but it just goes to show how popular their counter is. So when one was free the other week when I was in store and said...”you can always book for a bridal make over” my instant reaction was “oh yes please”. : - )

It is an excellent deal. It costs £30 (payable on the day), and you get two sessions. Not just one. You get two sessions an hour each. And to make it even better, the £30 fee is redeemable against any purchase you make. Niceeee!

So tonight 5.45pm I have a date with Stephanie and her Bobbi Brown wisdom. I cannot wait!!

Pictures to come on a later post tonight. And if I pick anything up I’ll let you know what I get.

Oh P.S. You don’t just have to be a bride-to-be to have a beauty lesson. They do lots of other lessons. Just ask at your local counter or look online at Bobbi Brown’s website.

Lots of blogging love,

~ Angela xoxo

I need a pick me up....

Boy, I am so thankful that Monday is finally over,  I had the journey from hell yesterday morning on the underground. And  I ended up having to get the river boat to work, travelling in style...  after all that ...I got into work 1hr 15 minutes late.  Bad huh???  To top it off after that I had a banging head ache all day after that.  Great...I love being me!

So on the way home I popped into MAC thinking I completely and definitely required so what of a cheer up.  Only fair I think.  I only purchased one thing.

Hue Glaze Lipstick

I am currently going through a nude phase as I did think about getting Crème de Nude, but wasn’t too sure.  I also looked at the new collection and it’s Stereo Rose Mineral blush.  Sadly Stereo Rose was all sold out. Bad times.

Want to see a dodgy lip swatch??? Pucker up Angela

I’m liking the colour, cross between a nude, coral, light pink I think.  I might be wrong!!  Consistence is strange but nice.  I’ve never had a ‘Glaze’ lipstick before. I’m usually a Lustre kind-a-girl.

Have you ever tried this lipstick?  Are there any other nude lipstick worth trying???
